W2W4 May 31, 2013 – Aces Duel In Battle For First

Boston Red Sox at N.Y. Yankees – 7:05

Only two measly games separate this powerhouse franchises, and Friday’s matchup pits ace against ace. Jon Lester (6-1, 3.34 ERA) takes the hill for the Red Sox; C.C. Sabathia (4-4, 3.96 ERA) for the Yankees.

The Bronx boys will also be welcoming back a couple of their bombers. First baseman Mark Teixeira and third baseman Kevin Youkilis are expected to be back in the lineup tonight, which only adds to the billing of a rivalry that needs no extra juice.

Bar none, Yankees-Red Sox is the greatest rivalry in all of sports. Having both teams are in contention for the division only strengthens that fact. New York is in the midst of a five-game slide, which has allowed Boston to surge back into the first place spot. Will the Yankees bounce back and close the division gap, or will the Red Sox add some breathing room with a few more wins?

Tonight’s game can be seen national on the MLB Network.
