Cardinals-Reds is currently the best baseball rivalry in the Midwest. In case you need a refresher, here’s video proof.
Once again, these two teams are locked in a race for first place in the National League Central.
St. Louis cruised to a 9-2 win in game one. Cincinnati answered with a 4-2 win of their own last night, and Cardinal tempers are already flaring because of the disputed call that ended game two (replays I saw were too close to tell whether Votto’s foot was on the bag or not).
The two teams are now separated by just three games in the NL Central. Tonight’s rubber match pits Lance Lynn (8-1, 2.76 ERA) against Bronson Arroyo (6-5, 3.38 ERA) at Great American Ballpark. The game can be seen nationally on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball broadcast, with first pitch scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
