Spring Training Draft Showdown Standings: We’re Neck and Neck

It’s time we once again check in on the standings of our first annual Spring Training Draft Showdown. The standings literally could not get any closer.

With a little less than two weeks left in Spring Training, Team George and Team Alvey are deadlocked at 43 wins apiece. It’s getting to the point where we might have to start brainstorming a contingency plan in the event we finish tied.

For those unfamiliar with our contest, Kyle Alvey and I came up with a friendly wager back in Podcast Episode 11. Each of us drafted five Major League teams; one that finished in first place in its division, one that finished in second place, third place, fourth place and last. The winner is the man whose five teams combine to win the most games during Spring Training.

If Team Alvey wins, I will be forced to sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” on air in a future podcast episode…in Spanish. And for those of you wondering, no, there is no example of a Spanish rendition on the Internet. Believe me, I’ve searched.

If Team George wins, then Kyle will be performing his own version of the 1990 Cincinnati Reds team rap, “Red Hot” on a future podcast episode.

We both sit at 43 wins apiece heading into today’s games. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of our teams and their individual records.

Team Alvey: 43 wins
· Toronto Blue Jays: 7-10
· Seattle Mariners: 14-5
· Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim: 9-10
· Texas Rangers: 5-11
· Boston Red Sox: 8-10

Team George: 43 wins
· Colorado Rockies: 9-10
· Baltimore Orioles: 10-6
· New York Mets: 8-10
· Pittsburgh Pirates: 10-7
· St. Louis Cardinals: 6-9

It’s still anybody’s game.
