Martin Challenges Maldonado to a Charity Fight

If Pirates catcher Russell Martin has his way, this newly minted feud with the Brewers is going to spill over into the offseason.

In case you’ve been living in a cave, or you just REALLY enjoying the Easter holiday in an isolated world of oblivion, blood between these two teams boiled over when Carlos Gomez over-admired (in the eyes of the Pittsburgh contingent) a batted ball to the displeasure of pitcher Gerritt Cole. It lead to this benches clearing brawl.

Apparently Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado got in the best blow, slugging Travis Snider in the face.

Martin didn’t take it too kindly, and through the media promptly challenged Maldonado to a charity fight in the offseason.

Martin has continued to play tough guy today, but so far there hasn’t even been a nibble from Maldonado.

I would be careful if I were Martin though. On Friday, Maldonado DID literally hit the cover off of the baseball. He may not be the kind of guy you want to mess with.
