Don’t Think Baseball Players are Athletes? Mike Trout Begs To Differ

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim v Boston Red SoxBaseball fans hear it from their buddies all the time: Baseball players aren’t athletes. All they do is throw a ball and swing a bat. Half of them have beer guts. Blah, blah, blah.

If this happens to you, don’t get angry at their ignorance. Show them some video of Mike Trout, sit back and enjoy their smugness turn to amazement.

Yesterday, Trout posted this video of him doing a ridiculously high box jump on his Instagram account. Sorry, you’ll have to click the link. I couldn’t figure out how to embed the Instagram video here on the blog.

But to make it up to you, here’s a highlight reel from Trout’s 2012 (and rookie) campaign, complete with that insane leaping catch to rob a home run that put his explosive athleticism on the map.
